Sales Tax Revenue City and County

Sales tax revenue returned to 2008 amounts that existed prior to VW and Alstrom. Why would anyone attribute a ‘wave of tourism” dollars that was obtainable prior to the corporate welfare incentive programs at VW, Alstrom as a factor? In 2008, prior to the housing meltdown, the sales tax revenue was $26,604,000 for the City of Chattanooga, and in 2011 was $26,462,000. In 2008, VW and Altrom were just a thought.  How did the corporate welfare Pilot club that does not pay property taxes increase tourism?  Just asking

Hamilton County’s budget did not provide a historic glimpse, but we believe the results would be proportional for obvious reasons. The City is located in Hamilton County.  To attribute a return to 2008 sales tax revenues to VW and  and the property tax exempt club is very questionable.
